Millions of young children are injured and traumatized every year. Shockingly, the annual incidence of child abuse is higher than heart attacks, breast cancer, and HIV combined. The impact of early trauma can last a lifetime, damaging young children’s health and their capacity to love and learn. The Child Trauma Research program (CTRP) has been at the forefront of preventing and healing childhood trauma for the past 25 years. CTRP is nationally recognized for creating science-based interventions that guide parents in helping their child recover from devastating events such as family violence, homelessness, death of a parent, serious illness or injury, community violence, and natural disasters. We use research to create effective family-focused treatments, train service providers across settings and disciplines, and provide direct services that restore children’s healthy development.
